Our history
1950
The beginning of TUFFI

In 1950, the Althoff Circus came to Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia. To promote the event, the ringmaster took a ride on the suspension railway there together with an elephant named TUFFI. But the journey didn’t go as planned: the elephant became agitated, broke through a window and landed in the river Wupper. Luckily, the animal only sustained minor injuries. The incident was quickly reported by the press and TUFFI became world-famous as a result of her plunge. Inspired by this leap into the Wupper, the former dairy Milchwerke Köln-Wuppertal chose the brand name TUFFI for its products at the end of the 1950s.

1971
The brand we know today

In 1971, TUFFI became the brand we know today, which is now part of the cooperative Hochwald Foods. Although our appearance has changed somewhat over the years, our delicious milk and quality standards have remained the same.

The TUFFI cow

In 2016, we added our much-loved mascot, the TUFFI cow, to all our packaging, making her our trademark. She has been part of our brand for years now.

2020
Who we are today

A lot happened in 2020: for one thing, we redesigned our logo. We also gave our products a new look, which is also when our regionally produced „Heimatmilch“ (milk with a taste of home) was launched. We have regional roots and want to communicate that.
