Concentrating on its core business
Thalfang/Meppen, 27 April 2016. Hochwald Foods GmbH, Thalfang, has sold its subsidiary located in Emsland, Hochwald Foods Meppen GmbH which produces and markets canned sausages, to Maximilian Tönnies. The buyer, Maximilian Tönnies is an established entrepreneur who owns the Nökle Group and is also successfully active in management of the Zur Mühlen Group. The planned transfer of operations still requires merger control clearance by the Federal Cartel Office.
As a manufacturer of sausage goods and canned sausages, the subsidiary is not part of the Hochwald Group’s core business, which will continue to concentrate on the processing and distribution of milk and milk products. Detlef Latka, Chief Financial Officer (CEO): “With the planned sale of the production and distribution facility for canned sausages, we will continue to concentrate on our core business in milk which aligns with our strategy 2020.” It was agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The site will be acquired in its current form and operations will remain the same for now.“The employees are qualified and the geographical location is very favourable as well,” says Maximilian Tönnies. However, the facility site is in a difficult economic situation. Therefore, it is clear that some changes will have to take place. For this reason, diverse ideas and possible concepts are being developed which will be clarified in the future and then implemented.
