Over a period of four years, from 2021 to 2024, our Lüneburg location was proud to bear the seal that defined it as an outstanding training company. During this period, the company worked consistently to receive the award over again and to prove itself as an attractive employer for potential apprentices or dual-study students. This hard work was appreciated during the recertification audit on March 5, 2025.
Alongside our HR managers, two prospective mechatronics engineers were also given the opportunity to answer questions from the IHK employees and two external auditors. Both answered very specific questions about the presented training measures in a detailed discussion of the relevant topics. We have developed theoretical and practical training so successfully that we have been awarded the IHK’s “TOP Training” seal of quality for another four years, until 2028.
100% positive reviews and 4.84 out of 5 stars: Our apprentices gave our company site in Thalfang this top rating. This was honored with the accolade of “Ausgezeichneter Ausbildungsbetrieb” [Outstanding Training Company] by the Trier Chamber of Trade and Industry in February 2024. “Hochwald Foods is distinguished by its exceptional talent management,” said Jan Glockauer, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Trade and Industry, at the official presentation of the certificate.
Apprentices at Hochwald Foods GmbH regularly achieve above-average test scores and are often among the honorees at the annual IHK event celebrating the year’s top apprentices. “Training skilled workers is a key component for obtaining new employees,” emphasizes Detlef Latka. “Many of our former apprentices now work in managerial roles.” With the Azubi+ program, the company specifically invests in its own talent and promotes not only technical expertise but also social skills.
Thalfang is located in the beautiful Hunsrück region of Rhineland-Palatinate. Mechernich is located in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia, roughly 40 km from the Belgian border. It is called the “gateway to the Eifel region” and is home to our most recent and most advanced dairy factory. The small town is well worth a visit, as is the surrounding region with a national park, open-air museum, and a well-preserved moated castle. “Phantasialand,” the leisure park located nearby, is great entertainment for young and old alike. Mechernich is also home to the Eifel Aqueduct, one of the longest aqueducts in the Roman Empire that once supplied drinking water to ancient Cologne.

Our most northerly site is located roughly half an hour away from Hamburg by train. Hiking, cycling, and especially water sports are very popular in the Lüneburg region.
